To help you visualize your upcoming journey, this premium 8 day morocco tour from casablanca forms a perfect loop through the country. You will head north from Casablanca to the Rif Mountains, cut east through the imperial cities, drop south through the High Atlas paths directly into the Sahara Desert, and finally head west to finish your 8 day morocco tour from casablanca in the vibrant markets of Marrakech.

Day 1: Casablanca Arrival & Sightseeing:  Arrival & The Great Mosque.

Welcome to Morocco! Your private driver will meet you directly outside the arrivals terminal at Casablanca Mohamed V International Airport (CMN), holding a sign with your name for a seamless welcome. Depending on your arrival time, we will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece showcasing exquisite Moroccan tilework (Zellij) built right over the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Overnight in a premium Casablanca hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca ⇢ Rabat ⇢ Chefchaouen: Capital City to the Blue Pearl.

Depart Casablanca after breakfast and drive to Rabat, the political capital of Morocco. Explore the historic Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the scenic, blue-and-white walled Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Bou Regreg river. From Rabat, journey north through the scenic Rif Mountains to the mesmerizing blue-washed city of Chefchaouen. Spend the evening strolling its glowing blue alleyways. Overnight in a charming Chefchaouen Riad.

Your exploration of Rabat isn’t just a brief rest stop; it is a journey through a UNESCO-recognized capital that bridges ancient history with modern Moroccan life. As you walk the ancient grounds of the Hassan Tower, you will marvel at the grand, unfinished 12th-century minaret intended to be the largest in the Islamic world. Adjacent sits the pristine white marble Mausoleum of Mohammed V, an architectural marvel honoring the grandfather of the current King, guarded by royal horsemen.

Leaving the capital, the drive north undergoes a dramatic transformation. The flat coastal plains slowly give way to the rugged, limestone peaks of the Rif Mountains. As you ascend the winding roads, keep your camera ready for panoramic vistas of rolling hillsides and traditional farming villages. Your day culminates with your arrival at the striking, blue-washed slopes of Chefchaouen, where the glowing twilight turns the entire mountain town into a surreal visual masterpiece.

Day 3: Chefchaouen ⇢ Volubilis ⇢ Meknes ⇢ Fes: Roman Empires & Imperial Gates.

Enjoy a free morning to take photos in Chefchaouen’s famous blue streets. By midday, travel south to the ancient UNESCO World Heritage site of Volubilis for a guided tour of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins and intricate mosaics. Continue to the imperial city of Meknes to marvel at the monumental Bab Al-Mansour gate and the royal granaries. Arrive in Fes by evening. Overnight in a luxury Fes Medina Riad.

Day 4: Full Day Guided Tour of the Fes Medina: Step Back in Time.

Meet your certified local historian for an immersive walking tour of Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest living medieval labyrinth. Visit the iconic Chouara Tannery to witness centuries-old leather-dyeing methods, pass through the majestic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), and see the historic Al-Qarawiyyin University (the world’s oldest continuously operating university). Explore the vibrant souks and the architectural mastery of the Bou Inania Medersa. Overnight in your Fes Riad.

Day 5: Fes ⇢ Cedar Forest ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga Desert: Transition to the Sahara.

An incredible scenic transition day on your 8 day morocco tour from casablanca (approx. 7 hours driving with beautiful stops). Ascend through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in alpine Ifrane (known as the Switzerland of Morocco). Pause in the Cedar Forest of Azrou to see and feed wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Travel through the rugged High Atlas paths via Midelt, and descend past the breathtaking palm oases of the Ziz Valley. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon. Mount your camel for a peaceful sunset trek across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your luxury Sahara desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner around the campfire accompanied by live drumming under the stars. Overnight in a private, luxury desert tent with an en-suite bathroom.

Day 5 of our 8 days tour from Casablanca to Marrakech stands as the most visually diverse driving transition of your entire journey. Departing the medieval walls of Fes, you will watch the terrain shift into the cool, crisp air of Ifrane. Built by the French in the 1930s, this town surprises many international travelers with its alpine-style architecture, sloped roofs, clean parks, and ski-resort ambiance, completely contrasting standard preconceptions of North African landscapes.

Continuing past the ancient cedar forests of Azrou, where you can directly interact with the indigenous Barbary macaques, you will cross the rugged paths of Midelt—the apple capital of Morocco nestled between the Middle and High Atlas chains. The final acts of the day unfold as you descend along the sheer canyon walls of the Ziz Valley, where millions of date palms flourish in a massive green ribbon carved directly into the red rock. By late afternoon, the rocky desert (Reg) abruptly transforms into the smooth, towering golden walls of the Erg Chebbi dunes, signaling your entry into the authentic Sahara.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Valley: Canyons & Canyons.

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast at camp, journey to the dramatic town of Tinghir to walk beneath the 300-meter towering limestone cliffs of the Todra Gorge. Continue driving through the rugged landscapes of the Dades Valley, famous for its bizarre rock formations known as “monkey fingers” and winding canyon roads. Dinner and overnight in a boutique Dades Valley Riad.

Day 7: Dades Valley ⇢ Rose Valley ⇢ Ait Benhaddou ⇢ Marrakech: The Hollywood of Morocco.

Travel through the beautiful Valley of the Roses (Kelaat M’gouna) towards Ouarzazate, Morocco’s cinematic hub. Explore the legendary Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a striking UNESCO World Heritage earthen fortress that has served as the backdrop for iconic films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Wind your way across the High Atlas Mountains via the panoramic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m elevation), arriving in the bustling city of Marrakech by evening. Overnight in a beautiful Marrakech Medina Riad.

Day 8: Marrakech Sightseeing & Departure:The Red City Finale.

Discover the vibrant soul of the “Red City.” Tour the historic Bahia Palace, view the towering minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, and wander through the magical, cactus-filled Majorelle Garden. Spend your final afternoon soaking in the energy of the world-famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square alongside storytellers and spice vendors. Your private driver will handle your smooth transfer back to Marrakech (RAK) airport, Casablanca (CMN) airport, or your chosen local accommodation, concluding your unforgettable Moroccan journey. Know Before You Go: Preparing for Your 8 Day Morocco Tour from Casablanca

Planning an extensive loop across diverse geographic regions requires a bit of strategic preparation. To ensure your private journey is as comfortable as it is inspiring, here is an essential breakdown of what to expect, pack, and prepare for.

Best Time to drive on This Route

While Morocco is a year-round destination, this specific route crosses coastal plains, high alpine mountain passes, and low-altitude desert expanses.

  • Spring (March to May): Widely considered the ideal window. The valleys are exceptionally green, wild alpine flowers bloom across the High Atlas, and daytime temperatures in the Sahara Desert remain comfortable.
  • Autumn (September to November): Another premium travel window. The intense summer heat has dissipated, making city walking tours in Fes and Marrakech highly enjoyable, and desert night temperatures are perfect for campfire drumming.
  • Winter (December to February): Beautifully clear days, but packing heavy layers is essential. Mountain passes can experience occasional snow, and night temperatures in your luxury desert camp can drop significantly.

Strategic Packing Guide for Diverse Climates

Because your journey transitions rapidly from the humid Atlantic coast to alpine mountain forests and dry desert dunes, packing in versatile layers is the secret to comfort.

  1. For Cultural Sites & Imperial Medinas: Respectful, breathable clothing is best. Loose-fitting linen shirts, long trousers, and maxi dresses are ideal. Crucially, pack broken-in, supportive walking shoes for the cobblestone steps of the Fes medieval labyrinth.
  2. For the Sahara Desert Trek: A lightweight scarf or turban (which your driver can help you source locally) protects your face from shifting sand during your sunset camel ride.
  3. For Evening Transitions: Temperatures drop rapidly in the desert and mountains once the sun sets. Bring a windproof jacket, a warm fleece or sweater, and thick socks for your night under the stars.

Currency, Tipping, and Local Customs

The official currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). While high-end boutique Riads and premium restaurants accept international credit cards, Morocco remains a fundamentally cash-based economy—especially when sourcing local street food, purchasing handmade crafts in the souks, or tipping service staff.

  • ATMs: Available upon arrival at Casablanca (CMN) airport and throughout major hubs like Fes and Marrakech. It is highly recommended to carry small denominations (20, 50, and 100 MAD notes) at all times.
  • Tipping Etiquette: Tipping is deeply woven into the local hospitality culture. While discretionary, it is customary to tip your dedicated private driver, certified local city historians, luggage porters, and restaurant staff as a direct reflection of excellent service.

On the last day of our 8 days in Morocco, we will continue our journey toward the coastal city of Casablanca. This is the largest city in Morocco, and it is known for its beautiful architecture, delicious seafood, and vibrant nightlife. Also, it is the economic capital of Morocco.

Firstly, we will pass by Rabat, the capital of Morocco. In this city, there are two main attractions to visit. Les Oudayas Kasbah and Hassan Tower are intended to be the tallest minarets in the world. After visiting these attractions, we will drive back to Casablanca, where our Morocco 8 day itinerary ends.
