Click on each day below to reveal full travel details, route timing, meal stops, and architectural highlights.

Day 1: Casablanca Arrival to Fes – Hassan II Mosque & Drive Inland
[ Expand Day 1 ]

Welcome to Morocco! Your custom 6 day morocco itinerary private driver journey begins the moment your flight touches down at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) in Casablanca or upon pickup at your downtown Casablanca accommodation.

If your flight lands during the morning or early afternoon, your first major destination is the iconic Hassan II Mosque. Dramatically positioned on a rocky promontory jutting out over the Atlantic Ocean, this architectural masterpiece features the world’s second-tallest minaret (210 meters) and stands as one of the few working mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors via guided interior tours. Admire hand-carved cedar wood, intricate zellige tilework, and massive titanium doors built to withstand salt sea breezes.

After taking photos along the Atlantic corniche, sit back in your climate-controlled private vehicle and begin the smooth 3.5-hour drive northeast toward Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. As urban coastal landscapes give way to rolling agricultural plains and olive groves around Meknes, your driver provides historical background on Morocco’s imperial past.

Arrival in Fes in the late afternoon allows you to check into your boutique traditional riad within the historic medina walls. Spend your evening sipping fresh mint tea on the rooftop terrace, listening to the evening call to prayer echo across thousands of historic minarets.

Day 1 Summary: Driving Distance: ~300 km (186 miles) | Approx Drive Time: 3.5 – 4 hours | Overnight: Traditional Riad in Fes Medina | Included Meals: Welcome Dinner.

Day 2: Full Day Guided Fes Medina Tour – Tanneries & Ancient History
[ Expand Day 2 ]

Dedicate the second morning of your 6 days in Morocco itinerary to uncovering Fes el Bali (Old Fes), a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest car-free urban zone on Earth. Following a rich breakfast of fresh bread, local honey, and argan oil inside your Riad, meet your licensed, official local historian guide for a deep cultural walk through over 9,000 labyrinthine alleyways.

Your guided exploration covers landmark monuments, including

  • Bab Bou Jeloud (The Blue Gate): The ornate grand entrance to the old city, adorned with vibrant blue ceramic tiles on the exterior and green on the interior.
  • Chouara Tanneries: Overlook the famous stone vats filled with natural dyes (saffron, indigo, poppy) where tanners still craft goat and camel leather using 11th-century techniques.
  • Al-Qarawiyyin University & Mosque: Recognized by UNESCO and the Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest continually operating university, founded by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 CE.
  • Al-Attarine & Bou Inania Madrasas: Architectural jewels showcasing carved plasterwork, cedar wood details, and pristine marble courtyards.
  • Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts: Located in a beautifully restored 18th-century caravanserais (funduq).

Pause for a traditional Moroccan lunch at a hidden medina courtyard restaurant, tasting authentic savory-sweet chicken pastilla or slow-cooked lamb tagine with prunes. In the afternoon, visit the Royal Palace Golden Gates (Dar al-Makhzen) and enjoy panoramic views over the entire medina from the Marinid Tombs hill.

Having a two-night stay in Fes gives you a relaxed evening to wander local souks, shop for handmade ceramics and lamps, or dine at your leisure.

Day 2 Summary: Walking Tour Duration: 5 – 6 hours | Overnight: Traditional Riad in Fes Medina | Included Meals: Breakfast.

Day 3: Fes to Merzouga-Middle Atlas, Cedar Forest & Ziz Valley
[ Expand Day 3 ]

Depart early on Day 3 for the highlight leg of your casablanca to merzouga desert 6 days expedition. Leaving Fes behind, your route climbs into the cedar-forested Middle Atlas Mountains.

Your first stop is Ifrane, widely known as “The Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture, sloped red roofs, pristine gardens, and winter snow sports. Continuing south, enter the dense ancient cedar forest of Azrou, home to wild native Barbary macaques. Stop briefly to observe these playful primates in their natural forest setting.

After passing through the apple-growing capital of Midelt for lunch at the foot of Mount Ayachi, cross the High Atlas range via the Tizi n’Talghamt pass. As you descend towards the Sahara, the landscape shifts dramatically into the breathtaking Ziz Valley an enormous green canyon lined with millions of date palms and fortified adobe Ksours.

By late afternoon, reach the edge of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, where colossal golden dunes rise up to 150 meters out of the desert floor. Mount your camel for a sunset trek across the rippling sand dunes, watching the colors transform from orange to glowing crimson.

Arrive at your luxury private desert camp, where you are greeted with fresh mint tea and dates. Dine on fresh Moroccan cuisine inside a dining tent before gathering around an open campfire for live traditional Amazigh drumming under an unpolluted canopy of stars.

Your fes to marrakech desert trip 6 days journey continues to the ancient trading town of Rissani, the cradle of the ruling Alaouite Dynasty. If your travel falls on a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), tour the lively traditional souk where nomads trade livestock, spices, crafts, and dates.

Head west through Tinghir towards the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge. Here, sheer red limestone canyon cliffs plunge 300 meters (1,000 feet) down to a crystal-clear riverbed, creating a narrow gap only 10 meters wide in places. Walk along the river bottom, feeling the cool mountain breeze and admiring world-famous rock climbing walls.

In the afternoon, drive onward into the stunning Dades Valley (Valley of Figs). Pass strange rock formations locally dubbed “Monkey Fingers” and climb the winding hairpin bends of the Tisdrine road for panoramic photographs over the gorge. Check into a boutique hotel perched along the canyon edge.

If traveling during April or May, witness fields filled with fragrant damask roses destined for organic rose water, essential oils, and cosmetics workshops.

Drive through the sprawling palm groves of Skoura, stopping to explore Kasbah Amridil, a remarkably preserved 17th-century mudbrick fortress featured on the historic 50-dirham banknote.

Arrive in Ouarzazate, known as “The Hollywood of Africa.” Tour the famous Atlas Film Studios, where sets from iconic movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, The Mummy, and Lawrence of Arabia still stand against the desert background. Cross the river stepping stones and wind through earthen towers to reach the granary at the top for sweeping 360-degree views across the Ounila Valley.

From Ait Ben Haddou, begin the spectacular climb across the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters / 7,415 feet elevation). Amazing Casa blanca tour
Very good way of experiencing more of the country’s culture and seeing the traditional arts and craftsmanship. We had very relaxed and kind tour guides who always answered any questions we had and took us on a great tour through the city. The highlight was our visit to the medina in Marrakesh, where we went to some hidden locations visitors wouldn’t normally find and had a great insight into the life and craftsmanship of the workers there.

“Complete tour to know the highlights of Morocco if you have little time. Good logistics, they travel with large groups and have all the forecasts!! Sayd and everyone who works with him are fantastic. Always attentive and willing to make the days there incredible. The tour itself is very complete, the mountains and their incredible views, and the pearl of the trip is the desert and its sunrise. Everything was fantastic. Thank you!!! We will be back soon.
