The Ultimate 3-Day Morocco Student Tour Itinerary (Marrakech to Merzouga)
Many college organizations have restricted time but have a desire to explore. The 3-day loop is our best-selling budget tour for college groups, providing maximum sightseeing at minimum cost.
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Dades Valley
We start our tour by leaving Marrakech early in the morning. We go directly up the High Atlas Mountains by crossing the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass which is the highest road in North Africa (2,260m).
Educational Stop: Our first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This historical ksar, constructed out of mud brick, was used as the set for movies such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Night Time: We pass by the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs on our way to the Dades Valley. We overnight in a local riad hotel where we enjoy our first group dinner.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Canyon – Sahara Desert (Merzouga)
After breakfast at a typical Berber breakfast, we go further into the desert region.
The Gorges: We hike through the Todra Gorges, with huge limestone formations towering at 300 meters above the ground. It is the perfect opportunity for our students to study the irrigation system and agriculture in the desert.
The Sahara Arrival: In the afternoon, we reach Merzouga, which marks the entrance to the sand dunes.
The High Point: We park the 4x4s and ride camels for 1.5 hours into the middle of the Erg Chebbi dune formation.
Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
We wake up at the crack of dawn to witness the sunrise over the Sahara—an experience that will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on your life.
Adventure Option: Before leaving the desert, students can opt for an ATV Quad Biking session or try sandboarding down the highest dunes.
The Return: We travel back through the Draa Valley, famous for its millions of palm trees and ancient history. We stop in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” for a quick tour of the movie studios before crossing back over the Atlas Mountains to arrive in Marrakech by evening
